SPIRAL BALANCES

If the window does not have ropes, the most usual alternative is spiral balances as seen below. They appear as a black or white painted pipe.

They are used architecturally to increase light into a room, particularly sunrooms, because the cavity (box) to house window weights aren’t needed, thus glass area can be increased.

Whitco spiral balances are height and weight specific, and require a 15mm recess in the sash.
